Thanksgiving

What a wonderful holiday! Brad and Abbye were in for the entire weekend and it was great! Beth and I love having the kids come in. They are developing into very good people and I enjoy the time together so much. I hate that Beth could not be here on the weekend. She continues to help care for her father and this was her weekend to help her mother with him. I know she hates not being with the kids this weekend. Brad just left to get back to Cullowhee as he has to return to work this afternoon. Abbye will leave shortly.

Back to Thanksgiving - Our family has a lot to be thankful for. Everyone is healthy and doing ok. God has blessed us so much. We have our challenges like everyone else, but overall things could not be much better. Its almost too good, I keep waiting for the trouble. I am so thankful for my family. Beth is the cornerstone and keeps me grounded and out of trouble. The Lord blessed me so much by bringing her into my life.

Back to football now... :-) Just wanted to jot down a few thoughts as I reflect on a great last 4 days....

Always Something

Interesting day at the cabin. Beth and I noticed a rain leak problem a few weeks back and have been trying to secure a reputable roofer to help us correct it. We had a difficult time finding someone who would actually come to the cabin to help us. There were a couple of guys who stated they would come but then did not show up. Finally a really good contractor came today but had to deliver tough news. It looks like we are going to need some masonry work and after the fact flashing work on our chimney and the cost will not be insignificant. The problem as we suspected appears to be water coming in around the chimney because of a lack of flashing installed when the cabin was built.

Oh well, with home ownership, its always something isn't it....

Homecoming Weekend

Its Appalachian State University's Homecoming. Fantastic Fall weather, 65 degrees during the day, blanket required at night though, perfect football weather. Excited about the game tomorrow with the Citadel. Both teams are ranked in the top 12. We're hoping for a fourth National Championship but a little concerend after the loss to James Madison University even if they are a top 5 team. Means we need to win the conference championship to secure a berth in the FCS tournament. We're at the cabin with our daughter waiting for my brother and his wife to join us. Looking forward to a fun weekend! Go Apps!!!
